Chapter 159 Joanna!

Chapter 159 Joanna!

Chapter 159 Joanna! (10k)

"Fuck—rap—"

Listening to the radio, Sean couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.

"I absolutely hate rap, especially black rap. You can tell this idiot's voice on the radio is a ghost just by listening to it!"

Just as Sean uttered his curse, ZT started singing on the radio.

Honestly, he sang quite well, but he sang a song he wrote himself, which made it seem rather ordinary; the melody and lyrics were both mediocre.

Even though the song was bad, and even though Sean himself disliked rapping.

But when the song started playing, Sean eventually leaned closer to the radio and couldn't help but hum along.

While keeping time, Sean actually listened to an entire song until ZT on the radio finished the song and started his personal talk show segment, which brought Sean back to his senses.

For some reason, looking at the refrigerator hanging above him, he suddenly felt a little annoyed.

So he went to the shelf where the refrigerator rope was attached, rudely loosened the rope, and let the refrigerator fall heavily to the ground. As he did so, Sean shook his head anxiously and cursed.

"Fuck, that guy Ni sings so terribly and he still has the guts to live, why the hell should I die in some nobody's eyes!"

"Damn it, I still have plenty of food. There's enough here to feed me for a year or two. Why the hell would I want to die?"

"There's just one downside: why aren't there any damn masturbators here? But I haven't thoroughly searched all the goods, so maybe I missed some. I'll have to spend some more time looking!"

"Yeah, let's just wait until this stupid broadcast ends. Maybe after that piece of shit Ni-ge finishes his song, I'll finally find my future silicone partner~"

At this point, Sean let out a long sigh of relief, then lay down in the middle of the radio, listening to many radios playing ZT's black jokes with their own reverb.

He didn't know how long he had been listening when he suddenly couldn't help but laugh out loud and curse.

"What rubbish! Didn't anyone remind him not to keep making black jokes and racist remarks? Has he forgotten that it's the end of the world and how many people still care about this stuff?"

"I thought their broadcasts would be like those radiation broadcasts, but this one is so unprofessional, haha—"

Amidst the laughter, Sean closed his eyes tightly.

He suddenly felt that he might be able to get a good night's sleep!

Although he didn't know why a not-so-pleasant radio broadcast could calm him down after a long period of anxiety.

But he was quite content to enjoy this peace.

Meanwhile, Sean, locked in the warehouse, was unable to distinguish between day and night and fell into a deep sleep.

Inside the manor, Madison, on guard duty, spoke to Gavin.

"Boss, the field convoy is back!"

"receive!"

Upon hearing Madison's words, Gavin took a deep breath and then hurriedly left the broadcasting room to go to his post.

"Give me a look through the binoculars."

Gavin patted Old Mike on the shoulder, grabbed his binoculars, and looked in the direction Old Mike was pointing.

The same pattern continued: the KABH Shield led the way, followed closely by heavy trucks. The sight of both vehicles returning brought Gavin a slight sense of relief.

So he put down his binoculars, left the manor, stood by the stable, patted Octavian's neck, and waited for the caravan to return.

Not long after, the two cars stopped in front of Gavin, who suppressed his worry and looked at the people getting out of the cars.

Eugene was the first to jump out of the car, and as soon as he got out, he gave Gavin a thumbs-up from afar.

"Hey buddy, haha, go ahead and praise me if you want, we did a fantastic job!"

"That bastard Steve and his men provided me with some help, otherwise I probably wouldn't have finished even if I had worked until five o'clock. I'm not the kind of person who takes credit for others' work; we all did a great job!"

As they were talking, Eugene came up to Gavin and handed him a cigarette with a smile.

Gavin took the tobacco, nodded slightly, and then looked behind Eugene.

In his eyes, all the field team members who had set off were present and got out of the car one after another.

After confirming the number of people, Gavin breathed a sigh of relief without making a sound, then exhaled a puff of smoke and spoke to Eugene.

"Well done! I thought that with you, you reckless guy, leading the team, we'd at least have one or two more wounded. You've really impressed me, buddy!"

"Ha, that's what I've been waiting for! I deserve your praise, boss!"

Eugene smiled with satisfaction. As he smiled, he glanced in the direction of the manor and then asked.

"Is everything alright at the camp? Did anyone cause you any trouble while I was away?"

"What a joke! There aren't even many people left in this world, how could there be countless troubles coming your way?"

Gavin replied softly.

"I've actually led my men to cause trouble for others. I've wiped out the Holy Fire Cult of God, the Baron's team is no longer a problem, and the Holy Fire Cult of God is gone too. Now, all we need to do is focus on our own business!"

At this point, Gavin patted Eugene's arm.

"Bring me the bomb you made. You, Steve, and Martin, come with me to the meadow away from the manor to test the explosive damage of the liquid carbon dioxide pressure tank."

"If the damage is as expected, we'll deal with the aggregate problem tomorrow morning."

"no problem."

Upon receiving Gavin's order, Eugene didn't rush to rest. He immediately went with Steve and Martin to Gavin's side.

Gavin waved to the other field staff, telling them to take a break.

He then led three people to the warehouse, where he carried away the two canisters of liquid carbon dioxide that he had brought back earlier, while Eugene also brought out the time bomb he had prepared.

After putting everything on the pickup truck, Gavin looked at the cattle in the pen, sighed thoughtfully, and pointed to one of them.

"Steve, bring a cow along, let's do a simple test."

"Uh, do we really have to do it this way, boss? Mixing cow's blood and beef together will make it taste worse."

Steve was very concerned about Niu Niu's health and asked Gavin a question in return.

In response to Steve's question, Gavin spread his hands and smiled.

Instead of worrying about whether the beef will taste good, you should be more grateful for the sacrifices that beef cattle make for our future.

"Besides, just because the beef isn't good doesn't mean we won't eat it! What a joke, we don't have the luxury of that."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin urged Eugene and Martin to get in the car, while Steve rode out on horseback and led a bull to follow the car in the direction it was going.

Gavin drove slowly, at about 30 or 40 kilometers per hour, and drove along the open grassland for a full 15 minutes before finally stopping the car.

It wasn't that he didn't want to go any further, but there was a herd of cattle blocking his way. The vast herd was less than 1.5 kilometers ahead of them.

Gavin opened the door and got out of the car, chuckling as he watched the cattle.

"Perfect, the explosion will scare the cattle away, saving us the trouble of driving them away."

"Martin and I will work together to put the liquid carbon dioxide pressure tanks side by side. Eugene, take the chainsaw and go to the nearby forest to cut down trees. After we've taken care of the pressure tanks, we'll drive to the forest to pick you up."

"Steve, settle the cow down, then you and Eugene will chop down some trees. We need at least six thick enough logs to make a simple obstacle to test its power."

"In a moment, we'll surround the pressure tank with wooden stakes, then place the man behind the stakes to determine the impact of the pressure tank explosion shockwave on the biological brain!"

Gavin used a bull for the test because the way a liquid pressure tank explodes is completely different from the way a gunpowder bomb explodes.

Ordinary gunpowder bombs, namely hand grenades and landmines, mainly use the expansion and release of pressure from the combustion of gunpowder to trigger fragments, and use these fragments as the primary means of killing.

Liquid carbon dioxide pressure tanks, on the other hand, have a much higher atmospheric pressure than gunpowder bombs, and correspondingly, their volume is also much larger.

While the fragments from such a pressure vessel can also be deadly when it explodes, the pressure vessel was not designed to kill, so the fragments are not as dense.

However, while the fragments of a pressure vessel do not possess the ability to deliver a dense, covering attack, the shockwave released by the explosion of a pressure vessel is far more powerful than that of a gunpowder bomb.

The reason why mining emulsion explosives and liquid carbon dioxide canisters can be used as substitutes for ordinary explosives to blast mountains is because the shock wave they release instantly is far more powerful than that of gunpowder of the same volume.

Therefore, Gavin had to test the exact power of this shockwave, if the explosion of just two pressure tanks could directly cause the bull's brain to malfunction and become incapacitated.

Then their plan should be fine, and a considerable number of pressure tanks should be able to completely destroy the possible biological brain organ that is hidden in the middle of the aggregate by countless flesh and blood!

Hearing Gavin's words, Eugene immediately picked up the chainsaw, took a cigar, and headed towards the woods.

Steve then found a short wooden stake to temporarily tether the bull and nailed it to the grass.

The bull had no idea what it was about to encounter. Seeing that it was pinned down, it simply lowered its head and started eating grass wherever it was trapped.

Watching the bull chewing on the towering grass, Steve patted the bull's back and shook his head.

"I hope you don't die too badly, buddy. Also, thanks for your sacrifice, we'll be able to eat fresh beef at camp for the next few days."

As soon as he finished speaking, Steve came to Gavin's side and together with Gavin Martin, they put the pressure tank in place.

Then, the four of them picked up chainsaws and went into the forest to get to work.

thump—

Boom!

After the sixth tree fell, Gavin did not extend his evil clutches to the other trees, but instead began to prune the branches of the trees on the spot.

Steve and Martin went to find a rope to lasso the tree trunk, and also to drive the car over so they could push the tree trunk near the pressure tank.

After the two left, Eugene sat on the tree trunk he had just cut down, a lit cigar dangling from his lips, and said to Gavin.

"Boss, you didn't actually need to lead the team to the Holy Church today."

"Or you should take me with you. Damn it, dealing with zombies isn't that hard. Dealing with people is the most dangerous, especially with cultists."

"There are so many people in the camp now, the field agents are practically lined up in a row. Under these circumstances, you shouldn't be taking any risks at all!"

At this point, Eugene looked up and grinned mischievously at Gavin.

Noticing Eugene's smile, Gavin chuckled and curled his lip. He knew Eugene's smile wasn't malicious, but even his normal smile looked incredibly sinister.

Gavin then shook his hand and made a joke.

"Stop grinning like an idiot, buddy. Seeing that weird grin of yours, I thought you were planning to kill me while we were working together so you could become the boss!"

"Uh—fuck, was my laughter that exaggerated?"

Yu rolled her eyes and gave Jia the middle finger.

Gavin then explained to Eugene as he gave the middle finger.

"As for your suggestion, haha, does having more manpower justify not taking risks?"

"I do not like taking risks, but that does not mean I have the right not to take risks. I am very happy living at home, as you have seen."

"Since I enjoy more, I need to take on more responsibility. You don't need to worry about that, buddy."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin patted Eugene on the shoulder, and Eugene nodded knowingly, then narrowed his eyes with understanding and appreciation.

"If my former commander had been like you, I might still be in the army, haha. We operations guys need a leader like you who is equally skilled in operations and understands our team members."

"Quarterback, it's no luck that you've won me over, you're a really good guy."

"Once we've dealt with the aggregate, let's find a chance to have a good drink. Let's go to the rooftop and drink while we're looking at the moon. We can also invite Old Man Mike and Steve, oh yeah, and Martin and Nikita too."

"We haven't even had a proper drink together yet."

"As for the future, damn it, there are so many people in the family, I can't even remember how many there are. If the camp hosts another big party, the atmosphere there won't just be for us anymore, you know what I mean, boss?"

At this point, Eugene couldn't help but reveal an expectant look in his eyes.

He really wanted to have a good drink with his friends who had helped him break out of Ennis.

Upon hearing this, Gavin nodded in understanding and then simply responded.

"Of course, once the problem with the aggregate is resolved, at least within a radius of several dozen kilometers around the manor, there are no other potential hazards that we have already discovered that warrant our attention."

"When that time comes, let's pick a night when the new recruits are on duty, and get together on the rooftop for a good drink."

"Buddy, you'd better have a high alcohol tolerance, otherwise, I'm afraid I'll drink you to death!"

"Ha, you want to drink me to death?"

Hearing Gavin's words, Eugene pointed his thumb to the ground without hesitation and retorted to Gavin.

"I'm no match for you in the boxing ring, fine, but you actually want to have a drinking contest with me?"

"I've drunk my way from America to the Middle East. I've drunk more hard liquor in my life than you've drunk water. You'd better watch yourself!"

As he spoke, Eugene stood up, threw the last bit of his cigar on the ground, and stomped on it a few times.

After confirming that the cigar had gone out, Eugene looked at Steve and his companion who were rapidly approaching.

After the two arrived at the tree trunk, Gavin and Eugene took the ropes and tied them to the trunk one by one.

After confirming that the tree trunks were secure enough, Gavin gave Martin a thumbs-up in the driver's seat, and Martin immediately pulled the six thick tree trunks back to the vicinity of the liquid pressure tank.

Following the drag marks on the tree trunk, Gavin and his group chased after it, using chainsaws to further divide the trunk into sections about two meters long.

The reason they didn't cut down trees next to the forest was because if they cut them down too early, they would have to tie many more tree stumps together.

About twenty minutes later, a circular, heavy tree trunk fence surrounded the liquid carbon dioxide pressure tank.

Steve went to the side and brought over the bull, then nailed it back to the outside of the tree trunk.

Eugene then approached Gavin with two bombs and asked him a question.

"Boss, which bomb are we using for the experiment? Is it the timed one, or the TNT with a fuse and detonator?"

Version?"

"It's timed, so just set the timer for about one minute."

Gavin gave the order decisively.

The reason he didn't choose detonators or TNT was because both of those things had fuses, and Gavin's process of delivering the pressure canister to the polymer meant that the polymer would inevitably cause considerable damage to everything around the pressure canister.

If the aggregate accidentally damages the detonator's fuse while attacking the vehicle, then that batch of pressure tanks will likely be wasted!

Of course, there is another possibility: the pressure vessel may have deliberately broken and exploded due to the heavy pressure from the polymer, triggering a chain reaction.

But Gavin can't use the resources he obtained with minimal effort in reality on an attempt with a high degree of certainty, can he?

Therefore, a static bomb is the most suitable tool for this mission.

Having received the answer, Eugene nodded knowingly and then set the timer for the timer bomb.

He was a professional demolition expert, but the bombs he made looked rather crude and weren't particularly well-made. Eugene carefully adjusted them for a while before he could roughly confirm that the bombs were usable.

Eugene waved the bomb at Gavin and laughed.

"Boss, it's done. Theoretically speaking, this bomb should be able to stay in place for at least a minute!"

"You son of a bitch, don't fucking tell me the bomb was already on its countdown while you were talking to me!" Gavin yelled as soon as he saw Eugene inviting him to a chat. Eugene grinned and nodded nonchalantly.

"Of course, the countdown has already started, boss, you can start counting down now~"

After Qingtao replied to Gavin, Eugene went to the liquid pressure tanks and placed the bomb on one of the tanks.

After finishing, Eugene turned to look at everyone.

When he discovered that everyone was still standing there waiting for him, he suppressed a mischievous laugh, then strode off into the distance, shouting to the crowd.

"What are you waiting for, guys? Run! We only have about fifty seconds left!"

"That's right, let's run. But how far should we run? A hundred meters should be enough, right?"

As Martin ran, he asked Gavin a question.

Hearing Martin's words, Gavin snorted irritably and replied sullenly.

"Stop joking around, get in the car quickly. Only when you're in the car will you be a little safer. Although there are only two pressure tanks, the small amount of fragments produced by the pressure tanks may be more powerful than I expected."

"Nikita mentioned before that there's a real-world example of this: a pressure tank containing liquid carbon dioxide exploded, and the resulting shrapnel even penetrated a 12-centimeter-thick concrete wall!"

"Even Bu Yuandai couldn't unleash this kind of power. You can imagine what would happen if we were unlucky enough to get hit by fragments from the pressure tank!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin gave Eugene a frustrated look.

Who knew that while this guy was working on it, he suddenly detonated the bomb!

After running for seven or eight seconds, everyone finally sat down inside the Kaibaihe Battle Shield.

Only then did everyone breathe a sigh of relief. They then drove the car sideways for a distance and parked it about 200 meters from the explosion site.

As each second ticked by, everyone in the car focused their attention on the bomb in the distance.

Seeing that the bomb hadn't exploded yet, Martin couldn't help but curse at Eugene.

"Redhead, are you sure your bomb is okay? How come—"

boom!

Thump thump!!

Before Martin could finish speaking, a loud explosion suddenly rang out from afar. The sound was so loud that it terrified the group of cranes that had been slowly approaching the bomb from a distance of more than 300 meters away, causing them to flee in panic.

Gavin stared intently at the explosion site in the distance. In his eyes, the wooden fence that his group had prepared exploded and flew out the moment of the explosion.

As soon as the bull exploded, it collapsed, stiff as a corpse.

After confirming that the explosion was over, Gavin let out a breath and addressed the group.

"It's done, Eugene. Your timing was pretty accurate. It took only 44 seconds for us to get into the car. The remaining 10 seconds are probably the time between you planting the bomb and us running to the car."

"Remember the manufacturing process of this bomb, and make another one exactly the same tonight. We'll put it to use tomorrow."

"Let's have a smoke first, and after things settle down over there for a while, we'll rush over and check it out."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin took out a few cigarettes and offered one to everyone.

Since everyone was a smoker, no one bothered to open the car windows.

Although everyone thought he was a tough guy, even a tough guy was worried that the explosions over there hadn't ended yet, and what if one of the pressure tanks was still holding on?

What should you do if a pressure tank suddenly ruptures and fragments fly into an open car window?

Fortunately, none of the four of them were particularly clever or resourceful enough to suggest making a bet by opening the car window.

At this point, the smoke from the Kaberheridon became thick and swirling.

Just as everyone had taken a few puffs of their cigarettes, Martin suddenly looked into the distance and said something.

"Wait, boss, there's a cow over there running like that. I suspect it's injured. Should we go check it out?"

"What?"

Martin's sudden remark startled Gavin. Gavin looked into the distance with amusement, and sure enough, in the direction Martin was pointing, there was a person running particularly unsteadily and with difficulty!

Upon seeing Ren, Eugene, sitting in the back seat, swallowed hard and cursed.

"Damn it, surely it could get injured by the explosion from that far away?"

"I'm sure, damn it!"

He cursed under his breath as he drove towards the group.

As the car approached the crane cluster, Steve rubbed his head in the passenger seat and said with a wry smile.

"Boss, according to the case Nikita mentioned, if the fragments ejected from a liquid carbon dioxide pressure tank explosion can penetrate twelve centimeters of concrete, then the kinetic energy contained in those fragments far exceeds that of a sniper bullet."

"Although due to the rules of shape-breaking, it will definitely fly as far as a bullet, a distance of several hundred meters is obviously not a problem!"

At this point, Steve glared at Eugene.

Steve conveyed his unease with his eyes, while Martin, who was sitting in the back row with Eugene, had been holding back for a long time and was about to make his move.

"Bullshit!"

He slapped Eugene's thigh hard and then continued cursing.

"Damn, nobody actually knew this thing was so powerful when it exploded, Eugene! If you had set a timer for half a minute, or if it had detonated prematurely, I would have been in danger of dying even if I had run hundreds of meters!"

"Fuck you, you old hunter! Don't fucking put that possibility on me. I may be a demolition expert, but the bombs I make are fine. We're perfectly safe right now!"

Eugene immediately cursed at Martin.

The same applies to the driver's seat.

"That's enough!"

Gavin muttered a rebuke, then pointed to the approaching hanging man and asked.

"Martin, check on that hanging man!"

"Okay, boss, I'll take a look."

Martin then put aside Eugene's question and looked up to observe the situation of the public hanging.

After a quick glance, Martin nodded firmly.

"The wound is on the ribs, and there is only one injury. It is not a penetrating wound, so we can rule out the possibility that this hamster was recently hunted by coyotes."

"But the coyote pack is so large that if the coyote pack cannot form a number of several hundred, it is simply impossible for them to attack the adult male coyotes in such a large pack."

"So, setting aside the possibility of a damaged hoof and a wild animal attack, this head was indeed injured by fragments from the pressure tank!"

"Wait, that harpoon has started spitting blood. The wound has pierced its lungs. With this injury, it'll be left behind by the flock at any moment, rotting alone on the grassland. That would be such a waste!"

"So, boss, we need to kill it quickly, otherwise its vigorous movement will cause the blood to mix further into the meat, making it even more edible!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Martin raised his heavy crossbow.

Although he acquired many expensive and excellent firearms upon arriving at the camp, he always carried his heavy crossbow with him wherever he went, because it was his faith.

Seeing that Martin had already raised the heavy crossbow, Gavin reached out and opened the rear window.

Eugene simply ducked under his seat, providing Martin with a good shooting angle.

After aiming for about three seconds, Martin suddenly fired the crossbow bolt, knocking the bull to the ground.

Seeing the male hanging creature roll twice on the ground, the surrounding hangings were further frightened and frantically ran further away.

Gavin parked his car next to the overturned crane and went closer to check its damage.

Gavin looked around, while Martin walked past the bull and searched for his crossbow bolts on the ground further away.

His crossbow bolt struck the head of the mourning figure with pinpoint accuracy, piercing straight through the skull.

If a person puts away his crossbow, he will lose a good steel crossbow bolt forever.

Beside Gavin, Eugene leaned against Steve, kicked the male penis, and said.

"We're going to have an extra Angus cutlet tonight, haha, looks like we'll be able to eat fresh Angus cutlets for a few more days!"

"Don't say that, Eugene. It's not like the frozen pork from the eldest son's farm is any fresher. Believe me, the pork from the eldest son's farm is definitely more expensive than the pork from the farm!"

Steve responded, then came to Gavin's side, squatted down, and said to Gavin.

"How is it, old man? Is the injury really from the broken canister?"

"It looks very similar. Let me take it out to confirm."

As Gavin spoke, he directly inserted his gloved hand into the bull's rib wound.

After determining the size of the wound, Gavin pulled out the small dagger tucked into his chest and slightly enlarged the wound before continuing to search it.

Soon, he pulled out a metal fragment the size of two finger joints.

Gavin calmly tossed the shards at Eugene's feet, offering a gentle reminder.

"You see, the power of the pressure tank fragments far exceeds our imagination. When we deal with the Aggregators, even if we're in an armored car, we have to keep as far away as possible."

"No problem, I'll listen to you. Anyway, you'll definitely be leading the team tomorrow. Even if I advise you not to, you'll probably still agree."

Eugene shrugged and shook his leg as he responded to Gavin.

Gavin nodded and then spoke to Steve.

"Steve, come over here and help. We'll lift the crane and send it to you."

"OK."

Steve nodded, then raised his hand to take off his glove and whistled loudly.

His white horse, Dundan, galloped toward him, and Gavin, taking advantage of the horse's approach, turned on the walkie-talkie and spoke.

"Thomas, this is Gavin. Arrange for a group of strong, young men to come to the prairie and transport two male cranes, each weighing at least 500 kilograms!" Steve immediately replied, "Just have them follow me."

After saying that, Gavin put down the walkie-talkie and waved to Martin and Eugene.

"Martin, Eugene, let's check the explosion situation first, then wait for our family to arrive."

"Roger that." Eugene nodded and got into the passenger seat.

"Wait a minute, I haven't found my arrow yet."

Martin shouted to Gavin from a distance.

Seeing Martin bending down to search for crossbow bolts in the tall grass, Eugene immediately leaned out and teased Martin.

"Ha, old hunter, the more graceful your pose was when you fired that arrow, the more pathetic your pose was when you bent down to find the bolt. So you should stick with using the crossbow from now on!"

"Don't talk nonsense in my ear, you idiot. I have my hobbies and principles, and a crossbow can kill you silently just as well. It has its disadvantages, but it also has its advantages!"

Martin roared in response, and then the wolf continued its search.

Because the pastures nearby are quite far from the estate, they weren't kept very well, and the grass was a bit too tall.

Seeing that Martin hadn't found an arrow after a while, Eugene said impatiently to Gavin.

"Boss, let's go over and take a look first. Let this guy find the crossbow bolts himself, and keep an eye on our hanging meat while we're at it."

"Let's do it!"

Upon hearing Eugene's words, Gavin quickly rejected them, then bluntly cursed at Eugene.

"You're already in charge, and you still make such a stupid decision, actually wanting to—"

"A member without a vehicle or horse was left alone on the grass?"

"Can't you use your brain for once? That explosion was really loud. Even if there weren't any lone zombies around, that kind of sound could have attracted wild animals!"

"Eugene, don't let me hear such stupid things. You're just an ordinary operative now, and every decision you make affects the lives of every one of your men!"

"Be careful, be extremely careful. Space is the most valuable thing in the apocalypse. We can waste space, but human lives are wasted. Remember this well!"

At this point, Gavin turned his head and gave Eugene a glare.

Eugene shrugged knowingly and helplessly, and whispered a reply to Gavin.

"OK, I'll listen to you. You're the boss. This area is completely flat, and even the grove is just a tiny forest with only about 500 trees. I really don't think there could be any danger here."

"Of course, I still mean the same thing, I'll do as you say."

"When it comes to obeying orders, I'm a pro, don't worry, boss!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Eugene chuckled and pulled out a bottle of Coke, opened it, and handed it to Gavin.

"Boss, have a Coke to calm down. I was just kidding. I really want to get rid of that guy Martin."

"You better keep your word!"

Gavin gave Eugene one last reminder, then took his Coke and continued waiting for Gimartin to find the crossbow bolt.

Martin searched for more than four minutes before finally finding the crossbow bolt and carrying it to the car.

As Martin opened the car door, he awkwardly raised his crossbow.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, damn it, more than half of this arrow is embedded in the ground. No wonder I've been looking for it for so long."

"It's alright, get in the car—wait!"

Just as Gavin was about to let Martin get in the car, suddenly, his gaze involuntarily drifted into the distance.

Noticing Gavin's words, Eugene revealed a very familiar expression. He simply picked up his binoculars and observed the direction Gavin was looking.

A moment later, Eugene spoke, holding up the binoculars.

"Based on my orientation, at approximately nine o'clock, about 1.3 kilometers away, there is only one lone zombie approaching us."

"receive."

Gavin nodded, then took Eugene's binoculars and looked at the figures in the distance.

After one glance, Gavin couldn't help but gasp.

Nearby, Eugene, who hadn't been worried about a single zombie, suddenly felt his hair stand on end after Gavin took a deep breath.

"What's wrong, boss? Don't scare me. Your eyesight is much better than mine. Are you human? Did you see some great danger?!"

With his eyes wide with horror, Eugene asked Gavin Yee nervously.

After swallowing hard, Gavin quickly raised his hand to stop Eugene and Martin from their startled reactions, and then solemnly explained to them.

"Don't worry, I didn't see any more danger, I just fucking saw someone I knew!"

At this point, Gavin couldn't help but rub his face, then handed the binoculars to Martin.

He continued speaking heavily.

"I fucking saw Joanna!"

"Joanna?"

Upon hearing this, Martin curiously murmured the name.

Strange, this name sounds familiar. Is it someone from the camp?

But if that's the case, then he shouldn't have turned into a zombie, so why does this name sound familiar to me?

"Holy crap—Joanna—Holy crap!"

Just as Martin was still pondering with suspicion, Eugene in the passenger seat suddenly reacted and immediately roared.

"I've heard that name 'Noah' so many times from old Bert's mouth, damn it! Luckily that foul-mouthed old man didn't see it, otherwise he would have been heartbroken!"

"Oh yes, yes, old Bert, Joanna!"

After being reminded by Eugene's words, Martin finally remembered who Joanna was.

That was the farm town doctor who always lived in Old Bert's mouth!

Thinking of this, Martin quickly picked up his binoculars and looked at Joanna. He was really curious about what Joanna looked like!

After taking a look, he immediately spoke to Gavin.

"Holy crap, boss, are you sure that's Joanna? She looks so much like Hilary!"

"Walter?"

Eugene was startled again, then snatched the binoculars and quickly looked at Joanna.

This time, he managed to see Joanna's face clearly, and then asked Martin suspiciously.

"Martin, what nonsense are you talking about? She's just a big-breasted, big-assed old woman. You could say she looks like Kim Kardashian, but she looks more like Hilary!"

"Haha, Bingo, I fooled you, you idiot!"

Martin laughed and punched Eugene's arm.

Meanwhile, watching the two bickering, Gavin smiled helplessly and then drove towards Joanna's direction.

As they drew closer, Joanna's zombie body became increasingly clear.

Watching Joanna's figure, Gavin shook his head regretfully. Although old Bert always argued with Joanna, Gavin knew that Joanna was the last woman old Bert loved.

Joanna certainly lived up to old Bert's affections; as a divorced woman in her forties, her confidence was evident in her Kardashian-like figure.

Longer than now —

As Joanna drew closer to the car, Gavin sighed and said to Martin and Eugene.

"Guys, don't tell old Bert about this. Sometimes, knowing too much is more reassuring than knowing nothing."

"Understood, release it. We'll let it slip. I'll take Joanna away now."

Eugene nodded to indicate that he understood, then stuck his mouth out of the car window and aimed it at Joanna, who was getting closer and closer.

Looking at the curvaceous woman in the scope, Eugene sighed regretfully and said.

"Such a great figure, what a waste, this damn apocalypse!"

"Looking at that body, I'm even a little reluctant to let you go. Martin, if you ever want me to tie this thing up, maybe you can play with it and relieve some stress."

"Get lost, you idiot! Don't fucking make such a disgusting joke. That's old Bert's favorite woman, and besides, I'm unlikely to ever end up fighting zombies!"

Martin cursed and punched Eugene, a punch that clearly ruined Eugene's aim.

However, Eugene quickly adjusted his posture and locked Joanna back onto the crosshair.
