Chapter 55 Run! Run fast!
Chapter 55 Run! Run fast!
Hearing Gavin's words, Eugene lay back in the back seat and grinned nonchalantly.
"No need to consider the situation, let's just move out. With our current weapons, even without the two of you, I could wipe out all the zombies myself by spending an afternoon with a silenced sniper rifle around the manor!"
After saying that, Eugene confidently patted the mk11.
Upon hearing this, Madison glanced back at Eugene, pointed disdainfully at his leg, and said...
"Eugene, when you're trying to show off, can you please stop shaking your leg?"
"grass!"
Eugene slapped his thigh and cursed.
"I'm not nervous, why would I be nervous? I'm excited, the kind of excitement a fucking veteran has!"
"I didn't say you were nervous. Are you explaining your mom?"
Madison scoffed and turned back to look ahead.
Looking at the back of Old Man Mike's head, Eugene rolled his eyes, patted the driver's seat, and said to Gavin.
"Boss, you can understand how excited I am, right?"
"Ah, yes, yes, yes."
Gavin joked, mimicking Eugene's pitiful tone as he spoke.
"Boss, please don't do this, I'm fucking scared!"
"Haha, I wonder who said that? It wasn't you, Eugene, was it?"
Gavin looked at Eugene with amusement, and Eugene immediately rubbed his scalp in frustration, struggling to respond.
"That's different, damn it! Driving fast isn't my profession, of course I'm scared, but shooting is different!"
"Haha, fine, if you say it's different, then it's different~"
Madison chuckled, then laughed along with Gavin.
Eugene, annoyed by the laughter, moved closer to the window, panting as he looked out, and changed the subject.
"By the way, boss, how much further are we to your estate? I still haven't seen any cattle."
"A herd of cattle?"
Gavin gave Eugene face by not continuing to tease him, and instead began to explain.
"This is right below the Chambers Lake spillway, who would put their cattle here?"
"My estate is about 13 kilometers from Lake Chambers, and it is located further north, away from the Lake Chambers spillway."
"As for the grazing area for my beef cattle, it's 16 kilometers away from the estate, to the east of the estate. The dairy farm is closer to the estate, only about 2 kilometers away, you'll see it in a bit."
At this point, Gavin lit a cigarette and slowed down while opening the car window.
He continued speaking while smoking.
"Let's not talk about that, let's focus on what we need to do."
"Next, we'll approach the dairy farm, which is also where the cowboys' quarters are located. According to old Bert, there shouldn't be too many zombies there that we can't handle."
"We need to observe the environment of the dairy farm, and then try to concentrate the zombies near the cowboy barracks. Eugene, you'll snipe them one by one."
"I'm fine."
Eugene nodded quickly; he knew what he had to do.
If he didn't have a silenced sniper rifle, that would be fine. Now that he's fully equipped, he naturally won't refuse to do the work he's supposed to do.
Seeing Eugene nod, Gavin also nodded and smiled.
"With a silenced sniper rifle, things become much easier. We just need to hide 800 meters away and pull the trigger one shot at a time."
"We still have a vehicle. Even if we alert the zombies, we can escape. A distance of over ten kilometers is enough for us to shake them off."
"Even if zombies accidentally stumble into the resort, dozens or hundreds of zombies wouldn't form a large-scale zombie horde in the densely packed forest of the resort, especially since we have that plate armor."
At this point, Gavin rarely showed a relaxed smile.
Seeing this, Madison and Eugene felt much better.
However, when Gavin mentioned that luxurious plate armor, Madison couldn't help but scoff.
He then asked Gavin.
"Boss, if that armor is so useful, why didn't you wear it this time? Are you reluctant to part with it?"
"Reluctant to part with it? What's there to be reluctant about?"
Gavin shook his head and laughed.
"The armor is indeed useful, but do you intend to use that thing to fight hundreds of crazed zombies simultaneously in a vast, open field?"
"Stop joking. I can kill six or seven zombies at most. A hundred zombies could pounce on me from all sides and pile on top of me."
"That thing is better suited for environments with many corridors. I need to make sure I'm facing zombies from only one direction as much as possible."
"We'll be able to use that treasure when we explore power plants, or when we go to other towns to explore places like police stations and hospitals."
As Gavin spoke, he pointed to the area beyond the road to his left.
"Alright, we're almost there."
Following Gavin's finger, Madison and his companion's gaze passed over the river beside the road, across nearly two kilometers of yellow grass, and landed on an area of dozens of buildings composed of square and round structures.
Gavin continued his explanation.
"The square building is the dairy farm, the round one is the room where the old-fashioned rotary milking machine is located, and there is also a large milking center, which is the tallest building."
"As for the cowboy dormitory, we'll have to go a little further ahead to see it. We... um?"
Gavin had just finished speaking when he suddenly stopped.
He slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to a stop on the side of the road, and then quickly put the binoculars in front of his eyes.
Eugene was jolted by the sudden braking and hit his head, clutching it and yelling.
"What's going on? What did you see? Your eyes are like a bald eagle's!"
He even praised Gavin, but Gavin didn't respond. Instead, he coldly cursed.
"Bullshit!"
"What the hell? What happened, boss?!"
Madison nervously swallowed.
Gavin shoved the binoculars he was holding into Madison's hand, then quickly turned the car around!
In the co-pilot's seat, Madison took the binoculars and glanced at them; his heart nearly jumped out of his chest.
At the same time, even without binoculars, Eugene could already see a cloud of dust rising from the direction of the dairy farm!
"Bullshit!"
Eugene cursed even louder than Gavin, pointing in terror at the direction of the dust and smoke as he roared.
"What the hell is that? Is it some f***ing Terminator riding a Harley and wielding a shotgun coming to kill me?!"
"It's a cow, a fucking zombie cow, and... ugh... and it's a zombie cow with its skin torn open on both sides, dragging its bloody hide as it charges at us!!!"
Madison responded to Eugene's words with a shocked tone, then threw the binoculars into Eugene's arms.
At the same time, Gavin turned his car around and tried to drive away, yelling at the two men.
"A cow's sense of smell is better than a dog's, and its hearing is two to three times better than a human's. Whatever it was that found us, I'm sure it charged out of the pasture and towards us from more than two kilometers away. Screw it!"
Upon hearing this, Eugene was completely enraged.
"Fuck! Fuck fuck fuck! Run! Run! This cow runs faster than my milkman's motorcycle!!!"
He gripped the binoculars and yelled at Gavin to speed up.
But at that moment, Gavin suddenly slowed down.
"How many?"
Gavin asked him incredulously.
"How much did you say?"
"What do you mean, how big is my grandma's bra size?" Eugene looked at Gavin in confusion.
Seeing Eugene's bewildered expression, Gavin immediately stopped the car, grabbed the binoculars, and began to investigate.
When the car stopped, Madison's teeth started chattering, and Eugene kept licking his lips in frustration.
Gavin, however, just sat there, puzzled, and said to the two of them with suspicion.
"Strange, there really is only one zombie cow?"
"When I first saw it, the cow had just forced its way out of the dairy farm's iron gate, and the flesh on both sides of its body was torn like that."
"I thought all the cows would rush out one after another like it, but why is there only one cow?"
"Did the zombies only attack one cow?"
"Could it be that after this cow turned into a zombie cow, it didn't attack or infect any other cows?"
"But this is fucking unreasonable!"
By the time Gavin finished speaking, the zombie cow had already charged towards them for nearly 700 meters, and was less than 1,500 meters away from their vehicle.
Even so, after hearing Gavin's words, Eugene followed Gavin's train of thought and asked a question.
"Yeah, why is there only one cow? I thought I was going to see a huge stampede of cows!"
At this point, Eugene raised his MK11, rolled down the car window, braced the gun, and silently aimed at the cow.
"Boss, double-check, is there really only one zombie cow?"
"If so, I guarantee it won't get within 500 meters of us!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Eugene bent down and took up his gun.
And his eyes, fixed on the scope...
Like a jackal!
