Chapter 561 The Aftermath of the War (Part 1)
Courtyard No. 5905, the battlefield in the backyard.
Odin stepped down from the preparation platform, strode to the dock, stood at the edge of the pool, and shouted loudly into the water:
"Elezra, the courtyard operation is over. You can leave the pool now."
His voice echoed through the battlefield in the backyard, causing ripples on the water's surface, and Elazra's little head slowly emerged.
Those scarlet eyes showed neither sorrow nor joy; they simply gazed silently at Odin on the shore.
Her body was still covered in black blood from low-level zombies, as if she had just gone through a fierce battle.
With her long, water-soaked hair that almost covered her face and floated like seaweed, she looked like a terrifying water ghost returning from the abyss, quite eerie.
Odin wasn't intimidated by Elazla, after all, he was a veteran general who had seen countless battles and was used to the horrific scenes on the battlefield.
But at this moment, Odin had to face a problem that was giving him a headache—Elizara seemed not to have received any instructions and had not left the pool.
Seeing that the child showed no sign of leaving the pool, Odin couldn't help but urge him on:
"Elizara, the pool water is cold. Don't stay in it any longer, or you'll catch a cold."
His voice softened, carrying the concern of an elder.
But as usual, her calls went unanswered; Elazra paid no attention whatsoever, not even blinking an eye.
She sat quietly in the pool filled with filthy blood, her eyes vacant, saying nothing, as if her soul had left her body and was immersed in a small world known only to herself.
"This child..."
Seeing Elaizra's indifferent attitude towards the orders, Odin felt a headache coming on.
No wonder the 59th Army of the Federation sent her to Courtyard 5905; she was a problem soldier after all!
While possessing formidable combat power, they are utterly devoid of discipline, and will not even obey their superiors' orders.
What is Raymond thinking? Does he expect a retired former federal general to discipline this unruly, entangled aquatic plant spirit?
With this thought, Odin, whose headache was getting worse, stood on the shore, awkwardly staring at Elaizra.
Regardless, we need to get her out of the pool first.
Mo Chen had previously added an automatic pool cleaning module to the backyard battlefield, so that the plant warriors would not have to expend precious stamina to manually clean the pool after the battle in the courtyard.
(A fire-attribute plant spirit warrior, who wished to remain anonymous, said he almost drowned while cleaning the pool.)
However, the prerequisite for automatic cleaning is that the pool must be completely empty except for water.
If Elaizra is still in the pool and hasn't come up, Odin won't be able to activate the automatic pool cleaning system.
Odin paced back and forth by the pool, racking his brains as he thought things through.
Suddenly remembering something, he slapped his forehead (with his left hand) and shouted at Elazra in the water:
"Elezra, you're covered in blood. If Ye He sees you like this..."
Before Odin could finish speaking, Elaizra in the pool suddenly moved.
To be precise, it was just as Odin mentioned "Ye He" that Elazra, who was immersed in her own world, instantly snapped back to reality.
His previously empty, scarlet eyes suddenly focused, as if a slumbering beast had been awakened.
If Ye He saw me in this disheveled state...
Elaizra shook her head vigorously, brushing away the strands of hair that were about to obstruct her view.
She glanced down and saw herself covered in blood; her brows furrowed slightly, and her cheeks flushed slightly.
Water droplets fell, and without hesitation, Elaizra swam quickly towards the dock, using the ladder installed at the edge of the pool to return to shore.
As soon as she stepped ashore, without even saying goodbye to Odin, she rushed off to the community.
The wet footprints stretched out, leaving only water stains mixed with black blood on the ground.
"Finally gone."
Odin sighed softly, wiped the sweat from his brow, and muttered something under his breath.
After confirming that the few plant spirit warriors left behind to clean up the battlefield in the backyard had left, he walked up to the platform and confidently activated the device for automatically cleaning the pool.
With a low rumble coming from the bottom of the pool, the clear water gradually erased the traces left by the battle.
······
Medical center, in front of the operating room.
Not knowing when the ongoing surgery would end, Ivy and Helen snuggled together and patiently sat on the bench waiting.
The surgery seemed to take an incredibly long time, making Helen, who had been waiting for so long, feel drowsy.
Bright lights shone overhead, but the surroundings were eerily quiet, with only the ticking of instruments and the occasional echo of footsteps from afar.
Every second seemed to be stretched out and then frozen in the air.
As a sniper, she used to maintain a high level of concentration during courtyard operations, but now she feels that her muscles are stiff and her shoulders and neck are sore.
After her tense nerves relaxed, a wave of fatigue washed over Helen, and she could barely hold on, wanting nothing more than to get a good night's sleep.
But she knew she couldn't sleep yet.
With only her youngest sister by her side, and her second sister, who treated them like a mother, lying in the operating room, and her eldest sister not around, Helen could only rely on herself.
Seemingly sensing her third sister's exhaustion, little Ivy tried to straighten her back, attempting to appear more reliable.
She didn't say anything, but simply gripped Helen's hand tightly. Her fingertips were slightly cool, which gave the latter silent encouragement.
Helen was slightly taken aback, then gently rubbed Ivy's head. A wave of warmth washed over her, and she felt less sleepy.
Time passed slowly, the clock at the end of the corridor turned slowly, and the sky gradually changed from gray to dawn.
The indicator light outside the operating room finally went out, and Chaolu, wearing a white coat, was the first to walk out of the operating room.
Upon seeing her, Helen and Ivy immediately stood up from the bench and hurried over, gazing longingly at Chaolu.
"She's fine now, she just needs to rest for a while."
Hearing Chaolu's words, Helen finally felt relieved. She turned around and hugged Ivy tightly.
The tears that had been welling up in her eyes finally slipped down her cheeks.
Not long after, several nurses also wheeled the hospital bed out of the operating room.
Felix lay in the hospital bed, her face still somewhat pale, but her vital signs had stabilized and her condition had improved considerably since she was shot.
She slightly opened her eyes and said in a weak but gentle voice, "I'm sorry to have worried you."
"Sis, I'm so glad you're alright!"
Helen raised her hand to wipe away the tears from the corners of her eyes, her heart filled with relief and gratitude.
"Sister, get some rest."
Ivy leaned close to Philian's ear and whispered something to her, then walked over to Helen and took her hand.
"Helen, let's go back."
"it is good."
Helen nodded and bowed deeply to the morning dew not far away.
Ivy followed suit, expressing their gratitude to Chaolu and several other medical staff.
"The duty lies."
Chaolu waved her hand, then signaled to the nurses behind her to take Feilian to the ward.
After thanking them, Helen and Ivy, completely relieved, finally left the medical center, intending to prepare some daily necessities for Philian's hospital stay.
