In those days of Plants vs. Zombies

Chapter 603 Dorothy of the Qingying Squadron

Chapter 603 Dorothy of the Qingying Squadron

War Zone No. 59, Northwest Suburbs.

The piercing air raid siren suddenly sounded, echoing over the cold city walls made of steel and concrete.

Imperial soldiers who had been patrolling various parts of the war fortress stopped in their tracks, tensed up, and immediately rushed to their posts, preparing for battle.

Various zombie robots capable of striking aerial targets were quickly activated, their cannons raised in unison, aiming at the sky where enemies might appear at any moment.

One after another, drones took off and formed a swarm under the command of Imperial engineers.

Hundreds of brightly colored balloon zombies, wearing melon-shaped hats, gathered together, like an eerie living cloud, and slowly rose into the air.

Within this bizarre cloud formation, several even larger military hot air balloons were mixed in, with dozens of balloon zombies responsible for piloting them prominently displayed in their baskets.

These "balloons" quickly integrated into the fortress's air defense network, baring their fangs and claws at the approaching "enemy."

But that's not all.

A moment later, a colossal object emerged from the depths of the clouds and came to a steady stop directly in front of the balloons.

That was none other than a fully armed armored airship.

The airship has a streamlined hull and is covered with thick and menacing metal armor.

The thick exhaust pipe spewed out wisps of smoke and emitted a deep, suppressed, and violent roar.

A huge shadow was cast down, enveloping many imperial soldiers on the ground and on the city walls.

However, instead of bringing fear, this shadow instantly boosted their morale to its peak, and their eyes blazed with a fanatical fighting spirit.

Within minutes, the entire fortress was in a state of high alert, ready for battle.

The target they were trying to prevent was the small red dot on the radar screen that was approaching the fortress at supersonic speed.

Meanwhile, above the fortress, inside an armored airship.

The airship was commanded by an Imperial officer named Zillin Delacour.

He is both a balloon zombie spirit with seventh-order zombie spirit power and the lieutenant colonel commander in charge of the "Balloon Air Squadron".

At this moment, Qi Lin was staring intently at the airspace in front of the airship. His blood-red eyes showed no tension, only excitement and desire for victory.

"All balloon zombies and Imperial squadron leaders involved in the defense, listen to my command! Activate Air-to-Air Defense Formation III and prepare to engage the enemy!"

His voice, amplified by the loudspeakers mounted on the armored airship, quickly spread throughout the surrounding area.

Upon receiving the order from their commander, the multicolored clouds hovering above the fortress began to move and change shape.

The balloon zombies pulled on the tether, clumsily adjusting their positions.

Several hot air balloons also released large amounts of dark purple smoke, providing cover for the surrounding balloon zombies.

"Attention all units, target has entered firing range. Should we intercept?"

The air defense units on the ground and the city walls sent out requests for instructions, and the anti-aircraft guns and missile launchers had locked onto the target.

Just as Qi Lin was about to issue the interception order, the "uninvited guest" finally appeared in the sight of the group of imperial soldiers.

When Qi Lin saw what the "attackers" looked like, his pupils suddenly contracted, and he swallowed back the order to fire.

The reason was simple: the pink streak of light that burst into a violent sonic boom and rushed toward the airship was none other than an Imperial Z mech that had undergone extensive modifications and was full of fairytale style.

As the mech gradually slowed down and hovered directly in front of the airship,

"This is Major Dorothy, from the Imperial Z Armored Corps' Elite Squadron, Air Force of the Imperial 59th Army!"

A clear, slightly childish, and adorable loli voice suddenly rang out, reaching Qi Lin and the imperial soldiers on the ground.

"I am carrying extremely important military intelligence and request an immediate meeting with the commander-in-chief of the Imperial 59th Army!"

······

"Attention all personnel! Immediately disengage from combat readiness! I repeat, immediately disengage from combat readiness!"

After verifying the other party's identity through the database, Qi Lin's roar immediately came from the loudspeaker, with a slight, almost imperceptible tremor.

"Ground control center, this is airship commander Zillin Delacook. I have confirmed the visitor's identity and request that the landing area be opened immediately. Inform the commander-in-chief that distinguished guests have arrived!"

Qi Lin quickly pressed the emergency channel on the communication panel, his voice becoming respectful yet urgent.

He turned around and sternly ordered his deputy, "Quickly, prepare the VIP room and bring out the best tea and snacks!"

After issuing several commands in succession, Qi Lin strode towards the docking hatch.

He tidied his appearance, straightened his melon-shaped hat with a propeller on his head, and took several deep breaths to calm himself down.

The renowned Z-Army Group is one of the Empire's elite forces, comprised entirely of outstanding pilots skilled in flying Z-Army suits. Since its inception, it has made countless contributions to the Empire.

As for the Qingying Squadron, it is the ace of ace, personally led by the legion commander and S-class zombie hero "Old Z", and every mech in it is a unique existence.

The members of this squadron were all exceptional talents selected from across the army, all under the age of eighteen, hence the name "Qingying" (meaning "elite").

Qi Lin took a deep breath, opened the hatch, and let the wind in, making the propeller on his melon-shaped hat spin wildly.

He squinted at the pink mech that had landed on the landing pad.

The cockpit opened, and instead of the fully armed ace pilot I had imagined, there was a petite, adorable, and incredibly cute pink-haired girl with twin tails, a lollipop in her mouth.

He looked no more than thirteen or fourteen years old, yet he could easily climb out of the cockpit and leave the mech he was piloting.

Instead of immediately walking towards Qi Lin, who was already waiting nearby, she reached out her small hand and gently patted the leg of the mecha.

"Paradise, you must stay here obediently and not run around. I will come back to find you when I'm done with my work."

As if understanding Dorothy's words, the mech known as "Paradise" shut down its engines and entered standby mode.

After doing all this, Dorothy, with a lollipop in her mouth, turned around and walked briskly toward Qi Lin, who was looking on in shock.

"Major Dorothy, welcome to Fortress 59. I am Lieutenant Colonel Zillin Delacour, commander of the Imperial 59th Army."

Qi Lin, regaining his senses, coughed a few times, introduced himself, and then added, "I have prepared tea and refreshments in the VIP room. Please follow me. After the airship lands, a special car on the ground will take you to the command center to meet with the commander-in-chief."

"Hmm, I understand."

Dorothy nodded, her expression instantly becoming very serious.

Seeing this, Qi Lin assumed she had something important to tell him.

Unexpectedly, Dorothy asked in a serious tone, "Give me a sparkling Coke, with extra ice. Do you have any here?"

Upon hearing this, Qi Lin was taken aback at first, then quickly nodded: "Yes, of course, it's frozen, I'll get it for you right away."

Dorothy squinted her eyes in satisfaction and skipped after him to the VIP lounge on the airship.
