Chapter 14: Finding a Bargain, Borrowing an Account, and Folding a House
Chapter 14: Finding a Bargain, Borrowing an Account, and Folding a House
The Flame-Striped Tiger was shot in the hind paw. The injury wasn't serious, but it definitely affected its speed. Faced with the Black Wolves' encirclement, it immediately abandoned its prey and broke through in one direction.
The Ink Wolves always adhered to the tactic of "strike while the iron is hot." Two of them cut off the Flame Tiger's front and two others cut off its retreat. When the Flame Tiger was in a dilemma, one of the Ink Wolves pounced directly from the side and bit its throat.
Having landed a successful blow, the remaining black wolves swarmed in. Stimulated by the pain, the Flame-Patterned Tiger swung its claws, and one of the black wolves, right in front of it, had its head smashed by a single swipe.
The death of their companion did not frighten the Ink Wolves; instead, it made them even more bloodthirsty. Two Ink Wolves bit the Flame-Patterned Tiger's throat, while the other two attacked the Flame-Patterned Tiger's weak rear.
The intense pain caused the Flame-Patterned Tiger to leap and bound on the ground, even rolling violently to break free of its restraints and snapping the throat of a Black Wolf in one bite.
After killing one of them, the Flame-Patterned Tiger tried to escape, but was pounced on and pinned down by three Ink Wolves. What followed was the most primal battle.
With nowhere to run, the Flame-Patterned Tiger had no choice but to fight for its life. Even though the Ink Wolf had lost its companion, it was even more determined to capture the wounded tiger before it.
A moment later, the Flame-Patterned Tiger, having bled too much, collapsed to the ground, leaving behind two Ink Wolves, one wounded and the other unharmed.
Perhaps because it had exhausted too much energy in the fight, the intact black wolf bit down hard on the hind leg of the Flame-Patterned Tiger, and with a snap, it bit into something hard.
As it was torn off along with a piece of flesh, it discovered that the hard object appeared to be a bullet used by humans.
boom!
A gunshot pierced the night, and Mo Lang, who had not been injured in the fight, fell to the ground.
The remaining wounded wolf immediately fled, but before it could take a few steps, another gunshot rang out.
boom!
The Ink Wolves were all wiped out.
On the eaves, Lu Sheng blew away the gunpowder smoke from the muzzle, stood up to loosen his muscles, and returned to the warehouse.
The next morning, he sat up in bed yawning and told Lin Ran, who had woken him, about what had happened in the middle of the night.
"Some ferocious beasts of the night tried to attack the house, but left after only a few attempts."
Judging from the sounds, many ferocious beasts of the night were heading towards the ruins on the other side, likely lurking deep within.
Lu Sheng was not surprised by this situation.
"This place is a transportation hub, with an airport, bus station, train station, shopping mall, and hotel all in one place, and there is also a subway connecting them underground."
Many ferocious beasts of the night came last night. I guess they came not only to hunt man-eating rats, but also some that migrated from the surrounding area.
They prefer shade, and the ruins have many underground structures, which are natural caves for them, so it's not surprising that they make their home there.
"But last night alone, at least five groups of Night Beasts went in. What are you going to do to collect materials afterwards?"
Lin Ran was somewhat worried. She knew that Lu Sheng's strength lay in the vast amount of readily available upgrade materials in the surrounding ruins.
"This was a situation we were bound to face sooner or later. The reason the man-eating rats didn't take over before was simply because they didn't have a leader and couldn't cause any real trouble."
Mainland students take it all in stride:
"I'll gather materials on the outskirts first. Once I have stronger firepower, I'll drive in and wipe them all out. The ruins will still be mine."
Seeing his confident demeanor, Lin Ran felt much more at ease.
"By the way, there's something I'd like to discuss with you."
Just as Lin Ran turned to leave, Lu Sheng called her back, explained the situation of his account to her, and told her his thoughts:
"No matter how much money I earn, I have to hand it over to my family at the end of the month, so I'd like to borrow your account."
Seeing Lu Sheng ask for her help, Lin Ran found it quite novel, and she asked curiously:
"But you know I won't be staying long, right? Aren't you worried I might run off with all your credits someday?"
"We'll talk about the future later. For now, I trust you."
Hearing Lu Sheng's answer, Lin Ran nodded:
"Hold out your hand, the one with the bracelet."
After Lu Sheng extended his hand, Lin Ran bound her account to Lu Sheng's bracelet, recorded Lu Sheng's image, and activated the account's operation permissions.
"Aren't you worried I'll spend all your money?"
Seeing how much Lin Ran trusted him, Lu Sheng teased her, and Lin Ran responded with a smile:
"If you're not afraid I'll run off with the money, why should I be afraid?"
Later, instead of operating the terminal screen as usual, Lu Sheng directly contacted the corpse recycling company through his personal wristband to place an order.
A black wolf costs twenty, and a flame-patterned tiger costs three hundred. Prices may fluctuate depending on the integrity of the carcass, but even at the lowest possible price, the profit is still considerable.
Lu Sheng was quite comfortable playing the role of the fisherman in this battle between the snipe and the clam.
After placing the order, Lu Sheng heard a sound outside. After listening carefully for a while, he realized that it was the sound of a helicopter propeller.
Jiang Shutong, who was in a corner of the room, also heard the sound and exclaimed excitedly:
"My folding house has arrived. Now you believe me, right? Hurry up and untie it for me, I need to sign for it."
Lu Sheng went up to the roof and looked out. In the dim light of dawn, across the road in front of the refueling warehouse, a large helicopter was suspended in the air, carrying a cargo container.
He returned to the warehouse and untied Jiang Shutong's ropes, only to find that she was staring straight at him.
Why are you looking at me like that? Get up.
"You were tied to the ground all night, aren't your legs numb? Help me out, give me a hand."
Lu Sheng clicked his tongue and reached out to help Jiang Shutong up. He hadn't noticed before, but Jiang Shutong was quite tall, only a little shorter than him. Although she maintained a good figure, she was quite heavy because of her height.
More importantly, Lu Sheng only intended to help her up, but Jiang Shutong unceremoniously relaxed her body, letting her weight fall entirely on Lu Sheng, who was practically carrying her on his back.
"Girl, aren't you going a bit too far?"
"Whose fault is it that I was tied up all night? Hey, hey, don't let go, I'll pay."
Jiang Shutong immediately transferred two hundred credits to Lu Sheng, who then reluctantly led her outside to sign for the folding house.
As the container landed with a thud, its four sides slowly opened, and a house gradually expanded and took shape inside.
Lu Sheng searched through his predecessor's memories and found that his predecessor had only seen this thing in GG.
It is packed into a shipping container during transport and unfolds into a standard residential house after landing. It is sturdy and stable, equipped with an adaptive base that can adapt to most terrains, thus eliminating the need for a foundation.
However, the price is high, and the cost-effectiveness is not comparable to that of container houses, making it a luxury item.
Thinking that Jiang Shutong could afford such things, Lu Sheng regretted asking for too few credit points.
The houses were being built slowly, so he wasn't really interested in watching the spectacle.
After putting Jiang Shutong down, Lu Sheng went straight back to the warehouse and came to the trolley.
Because of the ferocious beasts of the night, he planned to only collect supplies on the outskirts today and not go deeper, but he wanted to add an extra layer of insurance.
