Chapter 127 The Realm of Light and Mist
Chapter 127 The Realm of Light and Mist
The sky above the Realm of Light and Mist had no sun, yet it was as bright as day. A seven-colored mist flowed slowly overhead, refracting countless tiny spots of light, enveloping the entire world in a dreamlike glow. Lin Yun stood on a desolate rocky area, taking a deep breath and sensing the two abundant energies of this world—wind and light.
"This is the Realm of Light and Mist," Lin Yun murmured.
His mental energy spread in all directions, covering an area of several kilometers in radius. In this world, his perception range was at least 30% larger than in the outside world. Soon, he detected three faint points of light—the location signals of Luo Feng, Hong, and Lei Shen, scattered tens of kilometers away.
"Find them first." Lin Yun transformed into a streak of light and flew towards the nearest point of light.
The terrain of the Guanglan Realm is complex and varied. Towering mountains, like the spines of giants, stretch across the land; bottomless canyons, like fissures cleaved by a giant axe, are dark and mysterious; the vast plains are covered with strange plants, their leaves rustling in the wind; and in the deep, dark forests, the roars of ferocious beasts can be heard occasionally.
Lin Yun flew for about fifteen minutes when he suddenly sensed an unusual energy fluctuation ahead. He slowed down and looked down, discovering a strange landscape below—hundreds of enormous stone pillars rose from the ground, arranged in a circle, with light screens flickering at the top of each pillar, resembling some kind of ancient formation.
"What is this?" Lin Yun landed on a stone pillar and reached out to touch the light screen.
The light barrier trembled slightly, and a gentle surge of light-attribute energy flowed into his body. He could sense that the light barrier contained fragments of the laws of light; although very faint, their structure was extremely intricate.
"These should be naturally formed patterns of the laws governing this world," Lin Yun thought to himself. The World Lord has existed for hundreds of millions of years, and the rules of heaven and earth would leave traces over such a long period of time; these stone pillars are one of them.
He didn't stay there for long and continued flying towards Luofeng.
Half an hour later, Lin Yun found the first person.
It's Thor.
Thor stood before a screen of light, curiously observing it. His reflection was mirrored in the light, but the angle was distorted, making him look quite comical. He reached out to touch the screen, but the moment his fingers touched the surface, a force rebounded, sending him flying several steps back.
"Lin Yun!" Thor grinned when he saw Lin Yun. "How did you find me so quickly?"
"The badge has a location indicator." Lin Yun landed next to Thor, glanced at the light screen, and asked, "What's so interesting about this?"
"This is amazing." Thor pointed to the light screen. "Look, this thing can reflect images, but the angle is skewed. When I reach out to touch it, it bounces me away. This world is much more interesting than I imagined."
Lin Yun smiled and said, "Let's go find Brother Hong and Luo Feng first."
"Wait." Thor picked up a rock from the ground and threw it at the light screen. The moment the rock touched the light screen, it was bounced away by an invisible force, smashing into a rock in the distance and shattering into powder.
"Interesting." Thor clapped his hands. "Let's go."
The two continued flying.
Another half hour passed, and they found Hong.
Hong Zheng stood on the edge of a dry riverbed, looking at a deep ravine in it. The ravine was tens of meters wide, with smooth, mirror-like edges, as if it had been cut by something extremely sharp.
"Brother Hong, what are you looking at?" Thor landed beside him.
"The wind here," Hong pointed to the ravine, "this was carved out by wind blades. Can you imagine how strong the wind would have to be to leave such marks on the ground?"
Lin Yun crouched down and touched the edge of the ravine with his fingers. The surface of the rock was extremely smooth, even smoother than a polished mirror. He could sense that extremely dense fragments of the Law of Wind remained here.
"The wind here used to reach unimaginable speeds," Lin Yun said, standing up. "But it's calm now."
The three continued their search for Luo Feng.
Luo Feng was located in a canyon. When Lin Yun and his companions arrived, he was hovering above the canyon, with the Sky-Piercing Shuttles circling around him like twelve silver birds. Below him lay the corpses of seven or eight Star-level ferocious beasts.
"You killed so many all by yourself?" Thor's eyes widened.
"They came to me willingly," Luo Feng chuckled. "There are just too many ferocious beasts here, in huge packs. I was surrounded as soon as I arrived, and it took a lot of effort to get rid of them."
Lin Yun glanced at the corpses of those ferocious beasts, which ranged from the fifth to the seventh rank of the Hengxing level. With Luo Feng's strength, dealing with them was indeed not difficult.
"Everyone's here," Lin Yun said. "Now, we need to figure out how to complete the mission."
"It's just hunting ferocious beasts; a few days will be enough," Luo Feng said.
"Don't be too optimistic." Hong shook his head. "Although there are many ferocious beasts here, there are also quite a few powerful ones. Besides, this world is vast, and there are still many places we haven't explored."
"Brother Hong is right," Lin Yun said. "Let's not rush to hunt the ferocious beasts; let's explore this world first. The fluctuations of the wind and light laws here are very clear, which will greatly help my cultivation."
"Then I'll listen to you," Luo Feng said.
Over the next few days, the four of them traveled around the Guanglan Realm.
They traversed vast plains and saw herds of ferocious beasts running across the grasslands. Some of these beasts resembled bison on Earth, but were several times larger, with bony spurs along their backs; others resembled lizards, yet could glide through the air. Thor excitedly chased after a group of beasts for a long distance before being called back by Hong.
They traversed the towering mountains and, atop the summit, beheld the magnificent panorama of the entire Radiant Realm. Multicolored mist flowed through the mountains, and the distant Skylight Cliff shimmered in the light. Lin Yun stood atop the mountain, closed his eyes, and felt the wind blowing from all directions, the light pouring down from above. The power of two laws circulated within him, bringing him an unprecedented sense of comfort.
They entered a dark forest, where trees reached hundreds of meters in height, their canopies blocking out the sun. The trunks were covered in glowing moss, emitting an eerie firelight in the darkness. Various luminous beasts inhabited the forest, their bodies also radiating light, moving like lanterns in the shadows.
"This place is so beautiful," Thor exclaimed.
"Watch out!" Hong's voice suddenly rang out. "Something's approaching."
A dark shadow darted out from the treetops and pounced on Thor. Thor reacted swiftly, dodging to the side while simultaneously slashing his sword, cleaving the shadow in two.
It was a fifth-tier Shadow Leopard, entirely black except for its eyes which emitted a ghostly glow. Its speed was astonishing, but it was no match for Thor.
"Kill as many of these small fry as they come." Thor flicked the blood off his knife.
"Don't be careless," Hong said. "There might be even stronger beasts deep in the forest."
On the fourth day, Lin Yun sensed an unusually strong fluctuation of laws.
"There's something over there." Lin Yun pointed northwest. "The fluctuations of the wind and light laws are extremely strong; it might be the place with the densest concentration of laws in this world."
"Shall we go take a look?" Luo Feng asked.
"Let's go take a look," Lin Yun said.
The four flew towards the northwest.
After flying for about half an hour, a huge canyon appeared ahead.
The canyon was deep, with steep cliffs on both sides, their surfaces scarred by the wind. At the bottom lay a dry riverbed, its rocks eroded into bizarre shapes by the wind. The air was thick with wind, dozens of times stronger than outside. The wind howled like a stampede of horses.
"Such strong winds!" Thor steadied himself, his lightning domain being suppressed even more fiercely here.
"Wind Sound Canyon," Lin Yun said, "is one of the places in this world where the law of wind is most concentrated."
He stood at the edge of the canyon, feeling the fierce wind rushing towards him. The fragments of the Law of Wind were so clear here that they seemed tangible, almost within reach. Although he had already stepped into the threshold of the primordial laws of wind, in this place, his perception of the Law of Wind became even clearer.
"This place is helpful for my cultivation," Lin Yun said. "I want to stay here for a few days."
"No problem," Luo Feng said. "We'll protect you."
Lin Yun found a relatively safe spot, sat cross-legged, closed his eyes, and immersed his consciousness in the ocean of the Law of Wind.
In the Wind Sound Canyon, the wind howled incessantly.
Lin Yun sat cross-legged on a huge rock, letting the gale sweep past him. His consciousness was completely immersed in the ocean of the laws of wind, feeling the flow, the cutting, and the drifting of the wind.
One day passed, two days passed, three days passed.
Luo Feng, Hong, and Lei Shen kept watch around the canyon, occasionally hunting down any approaching ferocious beasts. Lei Shen, however, couldn't stay still and explored the canyon, discovering several peculiar landforms—in some places, the wind would form vortexes; in others, the wind would surge from underground; and in still others, the wind would carry a seven-colored light.
"Lin Yun, come and see this!" Thor shouted excitedly.
Lin Yun awoke from his cultivation and walked to the location of the Thunder God. It was the eye of a storm—winds converged from all directions to a single point, then surged upwards from that point, forming a wind column hundreds of meters high. The wind column was interspersed with iridescent light mist, refracting brilliant colors under the sunlight.
"It's so beautiful." Luo Feng also came over.
"This is the eye of the storm," Lin Yun said. "The point where the laws of wind converge. Cultivating here is ten times more effective than outside."
He didn't stay there for long and returned to his original spot to continue his cultivation.
On the fifth day, Lin Yun woke up from his cultivation.
He opened his eyes, a glint of blue light flashing within them. Five days and five nights of comprehension had refined his understanding of the Law of Wind to a new level, and he had also sensed the fluctuations of another law within the Wind Sound Valley—the Law of Light.
"On the other side of the canyon, there's a place where the Law of Light is abundant." Lin Yun stood up. "The place where these two laws intersect might be of greater help to me."
The four continued deeper into the canyon.
After passing through the Wind-Sounding Canyon, a huge light cliff appeared ahead.
The Light Cliff soars into the clouds, its entire body composed of shimmering crystals that refract sunlight into a rainbow of colors. Its surface is covered with countless light curtains, some as smooth as mirrors, others convex like lenses. Here, light constantly reflects, refracts, and focuses, forming an ocean of the laws of light.
"Skylight Cliff," Lin Yun murmured.
He could sense that the fluctuations of the Law of Light here were even stronger than those of the Law of Wind in Windwhistling Valley. The two laws converged here—Windwhistling Valley was wind, and Skylight Cliff was light. And the area between the two was the perfect place for the Laws of Wind and Light to merge.
"We'll cultivate right here," Lin Yun said.
He found a spot where the laws of wind and light intersected, and sat down cross-legged. Here, he could feel both the drifting of the wind and the refraction of light; the forces of the two laws intertwined and collided in his consciousness.
Luo Feng, Hong, and Lei Shen stood guard around the perimeter of Tian Guang Cliff.
Lin Yun closed his eyes and immersed his consciousness in the ocean of wind and light laws.
Fragments of the profound mysteries of the Wind-based Clone Technique and the Light-based Refraction Technique slowly spun within his consciousness. In the Panlong World, he had already grasped these two mysteries to an extremely deep level and completed their initial fusion. In the Swallowed Star World, he had also been honing his skills in the killing space, but he was always missing the final step. Now, in this world where the fluctuations of the wind and light laws were as clear as tangible objects, that final step had become within reach.
"Wind and light are essentially both about speed," Lin Yun thought to himself. "The drifting of the wind can create clones; the refraction of light can create illusions. The combination of the two creates illusory clones that are difficult to distinguish from reality."
He tried to bring the two fragments closer together and make them merge.
With the blessing of this world, fusion became easier than ever before. Without repulsion or shock, the two fragments merged together naturally, like water and milk.
Lin Yun's consciousness was so absorbed that he forgot about time.
One day, two days, three days...
His mental energy was being rapidly depleted, but in this world, the nourishment of light greatly increased his recovery speed.
On the fourth day, Lin Yun finally broke through.
He opened his eyes, a flash of blue and white light appearing and disappearing within them. The profound mysteries of the Wind-based Clone Technique and the Light-based Refraction Technique had finally begun to merge.
He raised his right hand, and a bluish-white light condensed in his palm. The light contained both the ethereal quality of wind and the refraction of light. With a gentle wave of his hand, the light flew out and split into dozens of clones in the air.
Each clone was as real as if it were, possessing a physical form and power. They darted through the air at astonishing speeds, their trajectories unpredictable, making it impossible to distinguish between the real and the fake.
"Light and shadow," Lin Yun said softly.
This is his first self-created secret method for the fusion of wind and light.
"Congratulations," Hong's voice came from the side.
